My boss gave me an update about my employment here yesterday. His superiors are still wrangling over the budget, so there's nothing definitive yet. But he knows that, come January 1st, they'll either hire me or end my contract. Apparently, if he's not allowed to fill the vacancy I applied for, he's also not allowed to keep me as a contractor.
So, my Washington plans just got a bit of a kick-start.
