As part of his "No Effort November", the guy at Technology Connections put out a video about switched outlets. (That's US-style outlets that are controlled by a light switch, not UK-style outlets that have switches on them.) My house has switched outlets but also ceiling fixtures, so there are some switches that I never figured out what outlets they run.
It took a little poking around with my outlet tester, but I tracked down the one controlled by the switch next to the front door. It's behind a shelf, so no worries there about a "dead" outlet causing me problems. Then I decided to test the dining room. Oh, the switch is on so I won't be able to find the outlet it controls. I shut off the switch.
Work monitor goes out, UPS starts complaining. Guess I figured that one out.
